I want to make an informed decision and NOT buy a sh**e gun. In other words, the scant info on this gun i could find was contradictory. My current experience with my department issued 1942 1911A1 made me realize that one could actually shoot a 1911A1to very great effectwithout modification, even with modern hollowpoint ammunition. And lists the limited edition numbers on the frame not matching serial numbers. The gun has a brushed blue finish and looks nice to my eye, but I've heard everything from the west hurley's having all cast parts (including slide and frame) and being total junk to the west hurleys having a machined slide and frame and not being bad. I believe it was made in the early eighties. The serial number starts with "AOC" and is well under 50,000, if that info is relevant. I have an opportunity to buy a west hurley auto ordnance 1911.
